Action HERO is short for Action for a Healthy Environment by Reducing Ozone and PAMZ is looking for nominations of deserving companies, businesses, organizations or individuals to recognize on 2012’s Clean Air Day, June 6th.

CRITERIA: A Parkland Ozone Management Zone (PAMZ) Action HERO demonstrates at least two of the following qualities:

INITIATIVE: Demonstrates best-in-class environmental performance, beyond mere compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.

INNOVATION: Demonstrates innovative methods that effectively contribute to the Ozone Management Plan in the PAMZ region.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Considers activities like compliance assurance and continuous improvement of processes, products and services to significantly reduce or eliminate impacts to air quality and the environment on an ongoing basis.

COMMUNITY STEWARDSHIP AND SUSTAINABILITY: Takes on a stewardship role beyond the business or organization's activities by interacting and supporting community, developing resource efficiency and providing environmental enhancement and sustainability.

Air Quality Issues- Public MeetingWalking Eagle Inn- Rocky Mountain House, Ab 2012/05/16

The Parkland Airshed Management Zone (PAMZ) is seeking public input on the regional AIR QUALITY ISSUES it should be addressing and also for locating a portable air-quality monitoring trailer.


This is a public meeting being held to receive suggestions and concerns and develop recommendations to help select six monitoring locations for its Martha Kostuch Air Monitoring Trailer in 2013.

Parkland Airshed Management Zone (PAMZ) and Sundre Petroleum Operators Group (SPOG) are partnering for a Learn at Supper. The main topics will be Air Quality (Ozone Reduction) and SPOG’S Public Engagement Process (PEP) Review previously know as SPOG’s New Development Committee.

Special Earth Day event! April 22ndRed Deer 2012/04/22

Waskasoo Environmental Education Society (WEES) and The City of Red Deer invite you to join us for a special Earth Day event!

 On Sunday, April 22, 2012 from noon to 4:00 p.m. we will be celebrating Earth Day at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre with:

  • · Eco-crafts
  • · Green building tours
  • · Composting demonstrations
  • · Registration discounts on sustainability workshops
  • · And more!

We also want to offer people the opportunity to learn about the fabulous work being done by local environmental organizations.  This will be a family event with interactive displays.

WEES hosts annual Earth Day events, and this year The City of Red Deer is joining in to celebrate the Ecology focus area of The City’s Environmental Master Plan. The idea behind the event is to increase awareness of the ecology of the Red Deer area and its issues. Earth Day is celebrated by 1 billion people in over 170 countries by staging events and projects to address local environmental issues.
